my left ankle and calf have been feeling pretty painful the last couple of weeks - so much so that I feared a return of the dreaded achilles problems of last year and decided to stop running so it could heal. Its not really happened and i found myself limping around soho and shoreditch from meeting to meeting all day yesterday. I can't seem to push through to my toes without pain - its less painful to walk more on the heels which must look a bit odd! Anyhow i need to get it better for my first ever race - the Race for Life 5k on June 1st so I'll just have to take it easy and hope it holds out.
That's going to be a busy day as I'll have to rush off to my mum's 60th birthday gathering straight after and it's also the day after I have to deliver the work/visuals I am working on for a concert in Liverpool that day. It would be good to get the train up and see the work in situ but we'll see.
I'm not sure if I'd really needed new trainers or not but the left heel looked kinda worn down and I'd had them a year so I figured maybe they weren't helping.
My new ones are the same model - the Asics Gel Nimbus 9 but a different colourway and i really love them.
I got them from Achilles heel in Glasgow (sorry environment) as they were £70 online instead of £100 in the shops. I also got a lovely asics running backpack like WW's so I can take stuff with me on long runs etc and have a camera at the races. Very fast Service. They arrived the next day.
Chelsea play the biggest game of their lives on Wednesday - The Champions League Final in Moscow - We HAVE to win:) c'mon the Blues. This was me at the Chelsea ground last september after the Tree-a-thon Race.

STATS:
Run : 5km
Time: 30.02 mins
On the Pod: various.

Hope the ankle/foot settles... I hate foot pain, makes running a chore. Great to see a picture of you :-) love the dude to the left (or your right) scratching his head.
Take care of your legs. Work within the limits of their discomfort. Remember if what you do does not make things worse then it is OK.
Enjoy Wenesday!
looks like those trainers are going to work out.
Hi! I just found your blog! I'm also joining my first ever race with Race for Life this June AND I love Chelsea and am hoping against hope that they do win in Moscow! =)
Fingers crossed!
I do hope you start to heal. I do hope you were fitted to the shoes before you bought them so they will be right for you.
hi nisa - all chelsea fans extra welcome here!
hi rae - the shoes are the same as last time so should be ok...
hk - very true - good advice - thanks.
hi brooklyn - i've been reading your blog for about a year...nice to see you here.
OK good. I hope you feeling better.
Ouch, ice, ice, ice! I had a sort of clicky, sore achilles after I did a mega run a couple of years ago and it did go eventually with care and no over-use.
I like the way the new shoes are posing for the camera ;)
Erm, am I still welcome on here if I tell you which team I support...?
of course :)
it's not man u though is it ?
